Red face New baby Caique

I went to a wonderful bird place this past tuesday because I needed to play with little birdies. I was shown beautiful little baby Caiques they were 6 weeks old and being handfed. They had just arrived there and we were the first people to see them. Well what could be a long story - shortened - we decided that I am going to have one. I chose the little girl, and she will be coming home in about 6 weeks or so when she is fully weened. We thought about a few names, and I am a Harry Potter fan so we tried Nymphadora or Tonks and she screamed her little head off. So when I go back to visit her, I am going to try Tinkerbell to see if she likes that. I would like feedback on the name, or any suggestions if it doesn't suit her.

I would wait a few more weeks and watch her personality sometimes you can get an idea for a name from the personality. I know many caiques named after fruit our White Bellied Caique is named Mango lol or food names in general another bird friend of ours his black headed caique is named Oreo.

I am hit and miss with names, some of our pets I have been able to name right away and some it took forever for example our Mini Macaw it took me almost a year to name him as nothing seemed to fit then one night I was watching one of the dog shows on tv and a dog was being shown his name was Keebler and it was like a light went on "Keebler" I liked it so thats how I named my mini macaw and it the name fits him very well.

So are you getting a White Bellied or a Black Headed, your going to have a blast with a caique the energizer bunnies of the bird world lol..

She's a white bellied and just so adorable! I really think that it is a matter reading her personality. I am going to go back and visit her next week. I am looking forward to getting to know her and bringing her treats till she can come home.

Awww! Congratulations!

Naturally - I cannot help myself... (for those reading over our shoulder): Don't forget to quarantine! (I know you will) Despite getting the baby so young and from a reputable source, quarantine is still absolutely essential!

I kind of like the name Tinkerbell... but I agree that sometimes it is really fun to wait and see how the personality develops!

Congratulations again - can't wait to see pictures!

They are adorable!
You are so lucky :P
Hmm.. I like Tonks, but if you cant find a good name at the moment, wait to see her personality!

Caique's are one of my dream birds

If my Oscar had not passed away, we would not be getting her, but I can't (could if absolutely necessary) live without birdie companionship. My husband has his B&G Macaw, and I need a little more cuddly, snugly companion.
