Good article, I can't agree more. We actually keep treats just inside the birdroom door for this purpose

How can anyone think giving a bird a treat when he gets loud will keep them quiet?!

Good one Elise

After being the companion of probably one of the loudest parrots on the planet (Moluccan Cockatoo) I don't think you can make them quiet.
Toto shouts when Dave leaves the room mostly, sometimes when I do, he has never been rewarded for this, his contact call is a wolf whistle which we have taught him but sometimes he gets too excited and this gets loud.

Sometimes he is quiet all evening, sometimes he isn't, parrots are loud sometimes it drives us crazy but life with a parrot is never dull and we love them, that Too smell after a big cuddle makes it all worth while.

Oh mercy..We have an U2..that screams..and right now she is screaming her head off because, he left the room..she is calling..SCRREAMING..for my husband which she adores..now she is quite and he is still not entering the room..I have told him many times to reward the silence not the screaming..NOTTA..She does not want anything to do with me when he is home..and she does not scream..go figure..Good article though..get my husband to read it
